St. Vincent and the Grenadines is made up of 32 islands and cays and is located in the Southern Caribbean between St. Lucia and Grenada. The main island, St. Vincent, is the largest and has an active volcano, resulting in a mountainous forest interior and black sand beaches. The other, smaller, islands have a limestone base and are very dry. The nation has been independent from the United Kingdom for 26 years.
